Philosophy and Goals
The primary goal of the Beth Israel Hebrew School is to provide a nurturing and stimulating learning environment in which the children will be able to deepen their Jewish experience and knowledge. Judaism's rich history, traditions and values will be presented in a joyful, unpressured, age- appropriate fashion. Students will acquire basic Hebrew skills in the ancient language of our Torah, the classic liturgy of our prayer book, and the vocabulary of modern Israel. Each child is viewed as a unique individual with specific needs which the curriculum is designed to meet.
Additional goals of the program will enable our students to:
-
Take pride in being Jewish
-
Learn blessings and prayers
-
Learn to read and write Hebrew
-
Study life cycles in Jewish law and lore
-
Strengthen their identification with the Jewish people
-
Get acquainted with Chumash (Bible) study, Mishna and Talmud
- Become knowledgeable about Israel, its history, the Jewish people and Biblical heroes.
- The popular Jewish Computer Kids program is integrated into our curriculum along with art and music.
